Gattuso makes final decision on formation change
Despite the promising results, coach Gennaro Gattuso will ditch the 4-3-1-2 lineup and from now on AC Milan will return to the old 4-3-3 formation.
The 4-3-2-1 lineups is already archived and for the rest of the season AC Milan will play with a 4-3-3 formation. The reason why? Well, unfortunately for Patrick Cutrone, Krzysztof Piatek is simply unstoppable playing as lone centre forward plus the injury of Lucas Paqueta affects the use of the 4-3-2-1.
Beyond the final result, the 4-3-2-1 formation worked well against Udinese. Game mechanisms needed to be perfected and movements still not completely absorbed, undoubtedly, but the new tactical interpretation had provided important insights on the offensive front. The two strikers partnered very well and a combination between the two put Milan in advantage.
Cutrone can not play as left winger but he performs greatly in partnership with one striker. The plan seemed right until the end of the first half. Lucas Paqueta, the most adapt player to act as attacking midfielder, suffered an injury that may keep him out until the end of the season. Castielljo failed to replace him and Suso has proven in the past that it’s difficult for him to play behind the two strikers.
Considering the recent happenings, reports Tuttosport, coach Gattuso has decided to continue with the 4-3-3 from now until the end of the season. The Rossoneri did well against Juventus with the old formation so there is no reason to continue with unnecessary experiments.
